Interim Superintendent of Schools Tricia Mooney announced today that she will recommend Mr. Daniel Greenough as the next Desert View elementary principal to the Board of Education at its April 9 Regular Meeting. Mr. Greenough was selected from a very competitive pool of applicants.

If approved Mr. Greenough will begin his employment with the Hermiston School District on July 1, 2018.

Mr. Greenough currently serves as principal for Pendleton High School in Pendleton. He was the high school principal for the Athena School District for four years, and a mathematics teacher and department head for the Bendle Public Schools for five years before moving to the Pacific Northwest. He served as a high school principal for Onalaska School District 300 for two years.

Mr. Greenough holds a continuing education, educational administration certification from Concordia University-Chicago and a master of arts in K-12 administration from Michigan State University.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to join the Hermiston School District as the principal at Desert View Elementary School,” stated Greenough. “Through the interview process, I felt a strong sense of collaboration, care for the well-being of children, and commitment to students throughout the school. I am looking forward to building relationships with the children, staff, parents, and community, and in continuing the tradition of excellence already present at Desert View Elementary.”

“Mr. Greenough will be a great asset to the Hermiston team,” said Interim Superintendent Tricia Mooney. “I look forward to working with him in continuing to develop a positive learning environment for students.”
