FAQ

Q:  How do I connect with my student’s teacher?

A:  Communicating with your child’s teacher is highly encouraged. This can be done in several ways; with today’s technology, E-mail is probably the easiest. Phoning in to our Main Office at 541-667-6200 and getting a message to your child’s teacher will also work. Face-to-face contact, however, is the best means of communication as both parties have the opportunity to build a relationship.

Q:  How do I apply for free and reduced lunch for my student?

A:  For the 2023-2024 school year, all Hermiston School District schools will participate in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs: the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). HSD enrolled students may participate in these meal programs without having to pay for meals or submit an application.

Each enrolled student is eligible for one (1) no-cost breakfast and one (1) no-cost lunch per day. Students may purchase an additional breakfast and/or lunch, at the paid meal price adopted by the board.

Q: How do I contact the bus company?

A: Transportation services for Hermiston School District are provided by First Student, a leading school transportation solutions provider in North America, helping school districts achieve their missions by providing the best start and finish to every school day.

Q:  What is the reason for the late start on Wednesdays?

A:  After months of study, the Hermiston School District Board of Education voted unanimously to implement a 45-minute late start/early release schedule on Wednesdays, beginning fall of the 2013-14 school year for improved staff development opportunities.
